Morriña, 2024

1’ x 2’
Steel
Welded steel, light bulbs and capiz sea shells. The shells gently move, creating a sound reminiscent of wind chimes, meant to evoke the gentle chimes from my grandmother’s balcony in Puerto Rico.

Mi propio Cemí, 2025

 8.5" × 6.2" × 3.5"
Clay

Hand-sculpted red clay Cemi, glazed with clear, brown, and copper patina finishes. Cemies are sacred Taíno objects that often represent ancestors or spiritual beings and were used in rituals and as symbols of protection and guidance.

Untitled [Atabey], 2025

5.8 “ × 4 “ × 2.7 “
Clay

Visited a local artisan’s studio (Taller Cabachuela, Morovis) to learn about Taíno symbolism in pottery.
Prepared clay using locally sourced materials, clay extracted from the artisan’s backyard combined with river sand, to create a workable medium. Produced ceramic vessels which were then wood-fired in the artisan’s kiln for two hours, resulting in their distinctive color.
